Planning A Party? 2 Non-Messy Barbecue Dishes Your Guests Will Adore

Articles

Since nobody likes an uptight party with bland food, you might be thinking about hiring a barbecue catering company to spice things up. Unfortunately, if you are like most event planners, you might also worry about how your guests will handle messy spare ribs and drippy sauce bottles. However, by altering your menu slightly, you might be able to offer similar foods that won't wreck your tablecloths or your people's clothes. Here are two non-messy barbecue dishes that your guests will adore:

1: Boneless Meats

You can't have a good barbecue without a flavor infusion of smoked, grilled, or braised meats. Unfortunately, traditional bone-in meats like chicken drumsticks and ribs can be hard for people to enjoy—especially at an upscale event. Fortunately, you might be able to offer meat options that taste similar, and that can be eaten with a knife and fork. Here are a few menu choices that you should ask your BBQ catering company about:

  • Country-Style Pork Ribs: Wouldn't it be nice if you could serve ribs without all of the hassle? Country-style ribs are cut from the rib portion of the pig, so they contain all of the delicious fat marbling traditional ribs offer. In addition to being the meatiest form of ribs, country-style ribs can also be treated with dry rubs instead of sauces, further eliminating messes.
  • Smoked Chicken Breast: Those whole split chickens might sound like an incredible thing to offer at a barbecue, but how will your guests feel about navigating through a poultry carcass? Instead, ask your caterers if they can smoke individual chicken breasts. In addition to being easier to eat, chicken breasts can also be cut in half so that you can reduce your food costs.
  • Sliced Brisket: Instead of serving shredded meats like pulled pork, consider serving thick slices of succulent brisket. Guests might feel like they are getting more for their trip to the meat table, and you might be able to keep those food pieces from falling off of plates.

If you really want to keep saucy meats from making a mess, consider asking your catering company to pre-plate each dish and serve them to your guests. In addition to keeping people from making a mess of a buffet line, you might also be able to provide a first-class experience.

2: Kebabs

Will you be inviting any social butterflies to your event? If you know that your guests will want to walk around and talk to other people, it might be hard to figure out how to control the mess. However, kebabs, which typically consist of skewered pieces of meat and veggies, are a delicious and highly portable barbecue option. Here are a few other reasons serving kebabs is an excellent idea:

  • Bite Sized: Since kebabs contain pre-cut, bite sized food items, they are perfect for anyone that has a hard time cutting food on their own. This means that parents won't have to spend time chopping up chicken bits for their tiny tots. Also, since you don't need a knife and fork, your guests can simply bite food off of kebabs—should they decide to wander the floor.
  • Customizable: One of the best things about kebabs is that they are easy to customize. If you know that you will have guests with allergies or dietary restrictions, you can have your caterers pre-skewer special kebabs that don't contain certain ingredients. For example, if you know that some of your guests are pescatarians or vegans, you might be able to make up some fish or all-veggie kebabs ahead of time.
  • Cost Effective: Believe it or not, kebabs can even help you to control your food budget. By integrating additional low-cost veggies like zucchini or green peppers instead of meat, you can keep your event budget-friendly.

By serving the right barbecue dishes at your next party, you might be able to fill everyone up—without any collateral damage.

Protecting Your Cookie Sheets

When I got married, one of my mom’s friends gave me a set of 3 cookie sheets at my wedding shower. Because I liked to bake peanut butter cookies, I was excited to receive this thoughtful gift. After the wedding, I started using these handy cookie sheets several nights each week. In addition to baking cookies on them, I used them to cook other types of foods as well. I baked French fries on them. I also roasted vegetables on them. Unfortunately, by using them for multiple purposes, they quickly lost their non-stick properties. Whenever I baked cookies on them, the cookies would stick to the sheets. So, I purchased a new set of cookies sheets. Now, I only bake cookies on cookie sheets. On this blog, you will discover ways to protect your valuable cookie sheets.
