Setting Up A Coffee Cart In Your Workplace

Blog

If you operate a large office, you're probably always looking for ways to make your employees happy and more productive. One idea is to set up a coffee cart. Rather than your employees having to get up and grab coffee from the break room throughout the day, the coffee cart can come to them, preparing them hot beverages to order. The idea of setting up a coffee cart may seem novel at first, but here are a few pieces of advice to help make it happen.

Buy a pre-assembled cart.

There are companies that sell coffee carts intended for food service companies. They come preassembled with all of the compartments you need for coffee pots, sugar, cups, and so forth. Make sure you buy one with a warming unit. You can park the cart in a corner, plug it in, and let the warming unit charge and the coffee brew. Then, disconnect the cart, travel through the office to serve employees, and return the cart to the outlet where you can plug it in to charge the warming unit again.

Hire an employee to work the cart.

Making and distributing the coffee will take a couple of hours each day. If you already have staff who handle tasks like light cleanup and cafeteria food prep, you can assign one of them to the coffee cart. Otherwise, consider hiring someone part time for this role. They can come in half hour before the other employees to get the cart set up, and then leave around 11 after everyone has had their coffee. They can always leave a pot of coffee on the warmer for anyone who wants an afternoon refill.

Consider serving espresso beverages.

Rather than just serving basic, brewed coffee, consider investing in an espresso machine to make fancier drinks. There are pod-style espresso machines that will make a latte, cappuccino, or Americano with just a touch of a button. If you go this route, you don't have to worry about keeping the coffee warm since the coffee cart operator can make drinks to-order.

Keep in mind that if setting up a coffee cart seems like too much work for you, there are food service companies that will come handle this for you. You would sign a contract with them, often for a year or several years at a time, and they will send a staff member each day to stock the coffee cart, serve employees, and so forth.

Protecting Your Cookie Sheets

When I got married, one of my mom’s friends gave me a set of 3 cookie sheets at my wedding shower. Because I liked to bake peanut butter cookies, I was excited to receive this thoughtful gift. After the wedding, I started using these handy cookie sheets several nights each week. In addition to baking cookies on them, I used them to cook other types of foods as well. I baked French fries on them. I also roasted vegetables on them. Unfortunately, by using them for multiple purposes, they quickly lost their non-stick properties. Whenever I baked cookies on them, the cookies would stick to the sheets. So, I purchased a new set of cookies sheets. Now, I only bake cookies on cookie sheets. On this blog, you will discover ways to protect your valuable cookie sheets.
